I built 3 scent walls for the police department. They reached out for help building them because they didn’t have any and thought it would be a cool project for the scout and it helped the unit out. I had help from my troop and my brother troop build the walls. Me and my family later delivered them to the police department.

My project was a lacrosse equipment drive for OWLS (Outreach With Lacrosse and Schools), an organization that brings the sport to underprivileged communities throughout Chicago. I ran the drive throughout my spring lacrosse season in my community. Once the drive was completed, the equipment that was collected was repaired, cleaned, and given to the OWLS organization. The organization will then distribute equipment to the hildren in these communities, benefiting the community in numerous ways. These benefits include promoting a safer community by keeping them of the streets and allowing kids to build bonds with others. This also promotes physical activity by making children physically fit and active, keeping them healthy.

After spending a significant amount of time in the local state forest that ran through my town, I noticed that there was a lack of dedicated signage and directional markings, which made navigation in the state forest more based on memory than maps. As such, I’m mapped out a 2 mile loop where I was able to implement directional markings in the form of painted blazes and a sign with all of the the distance information as well as a satellite overview of the trail. Access was also added to an area of the state forest that floods frequently due to the existence of beaver dams, done by using paving stones to construct an elevated path through the area.

Boca Raton, Florida · Jacob Wieloch
The Prayer Garden at the First United Methodist Church in Boca Raton was in a state of disrepair. So over the span of 11 work days over the summer, I lead a team of volunteers to improve and upgrade the space. Over the 11 days we put a new coat of primer and paint on the outer wall and areas inside the garden like the railing, fixed the fountain pump to get the fountain working again, built 2 benches to be placed into the garden, plant some new plant and mulch to make the garden look lively again, and clean up bird poop to make the place look nice and clean.

Macedonia, Ohio · Owen M.
I chose to complete their Eagle Scout service projects at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #108 in Macedonia, Ohio, a location that holds special meaning for their family. Their great-grandfather, Pete McRitchie, once served as Chief of Police and donated the very property where the lodge stands today. Carrying on that legacy of service, the brothers set out to enhance the lodge grounds in ways that will benefit officers and their families for years to come. This Eagle Scout project involved constructing a beautiful paver patio with a fire pit at its center, creating a welcoming gathering space on the lodge property.

My church had a little garden area that was not well kept, dead trees and bushes with overgrown grass. Being apart of this church, I wanted to give back to my church by renovating and giving them a better and usable area. We first got rid of the trees and bushes and trimmed the grass. We then got the tree roots removed and cleared out the area for workday. We first dug out the area for the pavers and started Laying in the sand and compacting while adding new mulch and bushes. We added the pavers while putting Bible verses on the bottom of each one. After the pavers were down, we cleaned up the area. Once our benches and stairs were ready, we hauled them to my house and cleaned them then brought them to the church and installed them onto the pavers.

Suffield, Connecticut · Ethan Boldt
At my local elementary schools, there is an atrium that is surrounded by the walkways of the school halls. It is commonly seen everyday. However, the atrium was overgrown, in addition to the wrong soil type resulting in many weak/dead plants. My projects goal was create a low maintenance garden with low impact plants, removal of dead plants along with a self-watering system using the adjacent water spigot. I solicited help from my troop to clear out the area, dig and plant, along with carrying equipment to and from the school. The Suffield Garden Club graciously provided funds for the dirt and plants.
